In an effort to post weekly but remain relevant, I thought this would be a good time to mention a site started and recently relaunched by friends of mine, Joshua and Sally Strebel. It’s Best Party Ever and is a great site to help you plan just that. I’ve searched the site for housewarming ideas and plan on using it for my own housewarming party.
The site offers everything from party ideas and articles to event planning and recipes. There are plenty of free tools, but you can register yourself or your business.
Here’s a great description pulled from the site: “BestPartyEver.com is an online community that offers free party planning tools, event planning advice, party ideas, party invitations, recipes, special event business directory, and everything else you may need to make your next party, the best party ever.”
Cheers!

Why am I here?
Very simply, I want to work for myself.
I am going to ASU full time to become an elementary teacher. I know that this is what I want to do with my life. I also know that it will never pay off monetarily. I’m working to remedy that before it’s even a problem.
I needed to quit my job but knew that school wouldn’t fill my time and definitely not pay my bills. I wanted to work for myself in something that I enjoy but could also be on my time table. I wanted something with longevity so that even after I fulfilled my dream of becoming a teacher, I could still do this in the summer. “This” became personal shopping.
It came from necessity but I knew it would work because a girl friend of mine always asked my opinion about what she was wearing or would always want me to go shopping with her. She even emailed me a picture when we no longer lived near each other. I know that she asked because she trusted me, but also because I would give her an honest answer and want to help her look her best. I knew that I could do this for anybody. A passing comment from a different girl friend also spurred my decision to go the personal shopper route. She said that she enjoyed shopping with me because I knew what I wanted and where to look for it so we didn’t spend ages trying to find it. I knew that these two things combined would make me perfect for the job.
All my other service ideas came from necessity and will be chronicled in future posts.

This idea of interior design is a culmination of need and desire. I considered going to school for it a few years ago. It’s been an interest of mine for a while, and I seem to have an eye for it.
Actually designing Forty Agency‘s office space was quite by chance. I came into Gangplank HQ on a Wednesday night and noticed my friend, Sunny, looking through an IKEA catalogue. I love that store and asked what he was up to. He told me that they wanted to transform Forty’s small space into more of a lounge for business meetings with storage and filing room. I quickly volunteered.
I designed a brand new workspace incorporating the company’s colors and all their requests in about an hour. The best part for me was that James, the owner, really like my idea and plans on using my shopping services when they’re ready to buy.

I helped a friend of mine plan and decorate for a halloween party at her house. She planned most of the snacks and had or bought bowls and dishes while I provided a spiked punch and most of the decorations. The night went really well and everybody loved the punch.
It was an easy thing to put together most of it being done the day before the party.
